Scalp Care Explained: Thai, Zen & Luxury VIP
Three styles, three lengths, one very relaxed head. Here's what sets Thai, Zen, and Luxury VIP scalp care apart — and how to pick the right one at our Oconomowoc spa.
Book a MassageOur scalp care experience is a slow, soothing focus on the scalp, neck, and shoulders. It comes in three styles — Thai, Zen, and Luxury VIP — each available in 60, 90, or 120 minutes. They share the same calming foundation; what changes is the pace, the depth, and how far the session goes. Here's how to choose.

Thai, Zen, and Luxury VIP
Same relaxing foundation — different pace and depth.
Thai scalp care is the classic, traditional version — purposeful, methodical work across the scalp, neck, and shoulders to ease tension and leave your head feeling lighter. It's the natural starting point if you're new to scalp care.
Zen scalp care slows everything down. The same focus areas, but a more meditative pace with extra attention to winding down — the pick for when you really want to switch your mind off, not just loosen your neck.
Luxury VIP care is the most extensive of the three: the fullest, most unhurried treatment, ideal for a true reset or a special occasion. Think of it as the deluxe version of the same idea.
60, 90, or 120 minutes
The longer you book, the slower and more thorough it gets.
Every style comes in three lengths. Sixty minutes is a lovely reset; 90 and 120 give your therapist more time to go slowly and cover more ground. The longer the session, the deeper the wind-down — there's no wrong choice, just how much time you want to disappear for. (If you're weighing massage lengths too, our length guide uses the same logic.)
A quick way to choose
New to it or short on time? Start with Thai at 60 minutes. Mostly chasing calm and a quiet mind? Zen is your friend. Treating yourself, marking an occasion, or you just want the works? Go Luxury VIP, and give it 90 or 120 minutes. Still unsure when you arrive — just tell us how your head and neck feel and we'll point you to the right one.
A couple of honest notes
What scalp care is — and isn't.
Scalp care here is a relaxation experience focused on easing tension in the scalp, neck, and shoulders. It is not a hair-loss, hair-growth, or dermatology treatment — if you have concerns about your hair or scalp health, see a dermatologist. We won't claim it does something it doesn't.
It's also not a medical treatment. It's a wonderful way to unwind, but it isn't a substitute for care from a doctor for any health condition.

Frequently asked
What's the difference between Thai, Zen, and Luxury VIP? +
All three focus on the scalp, neck, and shoulders. Thai is the traditional version, Zen is slower and more meditative, and Luxury VIP is the most extensive and unhurried. Each comes in 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
Which length should I pick? +
Sixty minutes is a great reset; 90 and 120 let your therapist go slower and cover more. The longer the session, the deeper the wind-down — pick by how much time you want for yourself.
Is scalp care a hair or scalp-health treatment? +
No — it's a relaxation experience for easing tension in the head, neck, and shoulders. It isn't a hair-loss, hair-growth, or dermatology treatment. For those concerns, see a dermatologist.
Which one is best for a first visit? +
Thai at 60 minutes is the easy first choice. If your main goal is to quiet a busy mind, Zen is lovely; if you want the full treat, Luxury VIP at 90 or 120.
How is this different from a quick scalp massage? +
A quick scalp rub is a few minutes tacked onto something else. Scalp care is a dedicated 60-to-120-minute session built entirely around the scalp, neck, and shoulders — see our guide on what a head spa is for the full comparison.
